Issue Position: Fight Back Against Attacks on Public Schools

Issue Position

The goal of the Brownback education agenda is to privatize public education. I will fight back against the Brownback agenda because I believe public education is essential public infrastructure. And like all other families and fellow business owners in Kansas, I know that when resources are allocated, you make sure your essential needs are met first before you worry about the rest of the bills. We should fully fund public education, according to the legislature's Constitutional duty to do so, as a first priority. Only then should we move on to the political debates about other important issues. Unfortunately, this legislature has misplaced priorities. It has prioritized tax cuts for corporate entities and high income earners, "scholarship" programs for private schools, and other right wing policy agenda items ahead of education funding.
